About the software

Merge allows users to compare and collaborate with multiple versions of text files. This includes program source codes, XML files and HTML files. Merge can extract text from Microsoft Office and OpenDocument files, as well as PDF and RTF files. XML files can have special formatting that allows you to see the changes better. It supports files with ASCII, MBCS, and Unicode character encodings.

The side-by sides are color-coded so it is easy to spot similarities and differences. Linking lines are drawn between the documents showing clearly how they are related.

Point-and-click merging helps you choose the parts of each file that you would like to add to a final merged version by simply clicking buttons. The editor in-place with unlimited undo allows for complete control of the merged file while you are creating it. The text comparison displays dynamically changes as the merge progresses.

Merge provides detailed highlights of lines changes. You can set it to ignore lines with different line endings or whitespace, and also to ignore changes in lines that are consistent with regular expressions. This latter option is useful in ignoring important changes such as expanded version control keywords and timestamps.
