Cool off at the Ice Lounge next Week

You may want to set some time aside to check out the upcoming Ice Lounge by Havaianas, a Brazilian brand known for its colorful and fun designs representing the culture of Brazil. As you might guess, the Ice Lounge is literally made of ice and will make its debut at the W South Beach lawn on Friday, May 19th.

In fact, Havaianas will give you a free pair of flip flops to wear if you happen to be one of the first 100 guests to arrive. As South Florida’s unofficial shoe, it’s probably a good idea to make sure you have a pair of quality flip flops to walk around in, especially once summer arrives. Plus, it will serve as a memory once the Ice Lounge dissolves into a pool of water.

Miami Beach’s Bagatelle Miami is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday beginning at noon. Enjoy an appropriately holiday-themed brunch until 6 pm. Guests are strongly encouraged to make table reservations.

How does cocktail and whiskey specials sound? South Pointe Tavern in South Beach will have plenty of those plus Iced Irish Coffee and lots of additional drinks.

Tonight, the new Employees Only bar will be making its debut in the hotel’s Coral House, just in time for President’s Day weekend.

Employees Only will offer its patrons drinks in a Prohibition style, but perhaps its most unusual feature will be the in-house psychic who will gladly help predict what drink will be in your future. Balkin-influenced food will also be served so you can drink and dine in one place.

While it may be new to Miami Beach, Employees Only is one of the most successful and popular bars in the country. Originally opened in New York’s West Village back in 2004, it quickly won numerous accolades and awards. In fact, Tales of the Cocktail named it the World’s Best Bar in its 2011 Spirited Awards. There is always a line to get in and based on all of the positive momentum, the new Miami Beach location may become one of the best bars in all of South Florida.

Employees Only will be open every day from 6 pm to 4 am. Its dinner menu will be served until midnight and there will also be a separate late night menu available from midnight to 3:30 am. See you there!

The Miami Beach Trolley Is Complete

Soon, dealing with Miami Beach’s traffic congestion and hunting down a parking space will no longer serve as valid excuses not to visit the barrier island. Today, the Miami Beach Trolley is launching the final route of its service called the Collins Link. The Collins Link joins the North Beach Loop, Alton-West Loop, and Middle Beach Loop.

Thanks to the opening of the Collins Loop, passengers of the Miami Beach Trolley will now have a means of traveling from 5th Street up to 88th Street, with transfers. All but one of of the four lines will being its operation at 6 am and will continue to run throughout the day until midnight. The other line (the Alton-West Loop) starts its operation at 8 am but also continues until midnight. These hours reflect the Miami Beach Trolley’s hours from Monday through Saturday. All four of the lines start operating at 8 am on Sundays.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Miami Beach Trolley, it can carry about 25 passengers and has several advanced features. Security cameras, complimentary Wi-Fi for passengers, and real time tracking are an example of what to expect. Download the trolley app to your phone and you’ll be able to see when the next trolley will arrive.
